Dear Members and Colleagues,
It is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I assume the role of President of the Hong Kong Concrete Institute. I extend my sincere thanks to each of you for your trust and support. I pledge to dedicate my efforts to advancing our Institute’s objectives and serving our community with unwavering commitment.
Our Institute has long been a pillar of excellence in promoting concrete technology and its applications within Hong Kong’s dynamic construction landscape. Building on the solid foundation laid by my predecessors, I am inspired to steer our Institute toward even greater heights guided by our clear Vision and Missions.
Our Vision is to become a renowned concrete institute in the Asia Pacific region. To realize this, we must not only uphold our existing strengths but also proactively embrace innovation, collaboration, and sustainability.
Our Missions will direct our actions:
- Promote the study and strengthen relationships among concrete professionals, fostering a community of shared knowledge and mutual growth.
- Facilitate the exchange of information on concrete technology, from design and production to inspection and testing, ensuring our members stay at the forefront of industry developments.
- Uphold high ethical standards across the industry and enhance public trust in concrete technology practices.
- Protect the interests of concrete practitioners and promote a fair, professional working environment.
- Advocate for a high-quality concrete production system, supporting product conformity certification to ensure excellence in the market.
- Strengthen communication with Government Departments and professional bodies, contributing our expertise to policy and technological development.
- Encourage research and development in concrete technology and support innovation that meets tomorrow’s challenges.
- Produce and disseminate publications to share knowledge and promote the interests of our Institute.
The concrete industry faces several unique and interconnected challenges including environmental sustainability, shortage of raw materials, supply chain vulnerabilities, labor and equipment constraints, and increasingly stringent government regulations.
We also focus on attracting young talent by offering expanded learning opportunities, mentorship programs, and industry engagement, we will equip our members to lead in a sustainable and technologically advanced future.
I am committed to working closely with all members, industry partners, and stakeholders to translate these missions into tangible outcomes. Together, we will contribute to Hong Kong’s development, support our profession, and benefit society.
Finally, I thank you once again for your dedication to the Hong Kong Concrete Institute. I look forward to collaborating with you in this service term as we build a stronger, more influential Institute – one that is recognized across the Asia Pacific for its professionalism, innovation, and integrity.
